José Leonel Ortez, born in Comayagua, Honduras, in December 1965, he joined the National University in 1983 to study Juridical and Social Sciences. He then entered the Roman Catholic Seminary where he studied Humanities, Philosophy and Theology (Divinity) for 7 years. He was ordained a Roman Catholic deacon in February 1991.
He retired from the Catholic Church at the end of 1992. In 1994 he married, and from that relationship three sons emerge: Eva Maria (21); Wendy Paola (18) and Yeshua Leonel (9). In 1995 he met Bishop Frade in Honduras who encouraged him to begin his experiences in the Episcopal Church. He was received as a deacon in 1998, and ordained priest (priest) on June 24, 2000. In 2001, despite his youth (36) and short time in the church, he was one of three aspiring candidates for Bishop of Honduras. In October 2003 he is called by Holy Cross Church in Miami to be its Rector until the end of 2013 when church property is sold. He is currently the first Rector of the new Santa Cruz Resurrection parish in Biscayne Park, Florida.
